A word on Data Security
As we all try to be extra helpful and accommodating during this time where there is a good amount of confusion and changing processes, please be aware that the expectation is that you would continue to adhere to what we’ve taught during information security training. COVID-19 provides an enormous opportunity for attackers to take advantage of lackadaisical security practices and they have ramped up their efforts with COVID-19 related phishing and other cyber attacks.
It is important that you:
- Avoid putting sensitive Gordon files on a flash drive
- Remain vigilant when responding to emails
- A Gordon employee will never ask you to buy a gift card via email or texting
- Store files on the Gordon cloud using tools such as SharePoint, OneDrive, and Office 365 applications
- If you are using your home computer for Gordon related work:
- Use a strong passphrase
- Set the computer to lock itself after a period of 15 minutes of inactivity
- Use an up-to-date antivirus
What about Jenzabar?
Things to consider when using Jenzabar remotely:
As anyone who uses Jenzabar will tell you, it is a very powerful tool, but can be resource intensive. If you are attempting to use Jenzabar remotely, the best case scenario is to connect to a computer system on Gordon's campus with the application installed. Attempting to use Jenzabar directly from a computer with a VPN connection may lead to performance issues. Please contact CTS if you have any questions regarding this.
